How can the defendent in a false allegation of child sex abuse prove a recording of a search of their home that was taped by the police detective was edited?
It has been listened to and it is easy to hear where it starts and stops. Getting it legally analyzed to prove the officer is less than honest is the key at this point.
Any ideas?

I am in trial on a serious case where an incarcerated man witnessed an event where someone died. The defense attorney, a government lawyer, contacted this witness, who has since been released from prison, and told him that he would make it very uncomfortable on cross-examination for him if he testified. He told him that he would discuss all the details of his crimes.

My question for comment is this: Cross on felony convictions is permissible, but might the comments of the government lawyer nonetheless cross the line in that he is not impeaching but dissuading the witness from appearing in court?

Thank you for your thoughts.
